Hugos Adventure is a video slot from the game provider Playn Go. In this review, you can read more about the features of the game.
In 1987, two Danes named Ivan Sølvason and Niels Krogh Mortensen had an innovative idea: they were going to create an interactive video game TV program that would allow viewers to interact with the live broadcast by controlling the game character with their phones without delay.
After having developed a fully functional and customized system in addition to Hugo’s character, the concept was finally realized in 1990. Hugo became a huge success, eventually becoming a franchise and licensing over 40 TV channels worldwide.
Those of you who were present when it all happened probably still remember all the frustrated kids trying to get the naughty Hugo to go in the direction they wanted, by frantically pressing the buttons on the phone.
Since then, Hugo’s media franchise has been included in a number of video games, applications, books, movies and even rap albums. Thanks to the Swedish software developer Play ‘n GO, it also hosts several casino games.
While the first space in which Hugo appeared was strictly based on the TV show, the next one allowed us to see the cute little guy in several other environments. In Hugo 2, for example, he was a locomotive driver, and in Hugo Goal, we came to see him as a rather useless goalkeeper.
Of these titles, Hugo 2 is the only one we can recommend, although none of them were particularly good.
In the fourth instalments, entitled Hugo’s Adventure, Hugo’s world expanded. It comes with a bonus game, where you’ll see him plunge into the depths in search of treasure, and a free throw feature that takes you to impressive heights.
Highly volatile, the game is played with a 5 reel design and 10 fixed pay-lines, accepting bets between 0.10 and $100 per round.
Every time a new Hugo song comes out, there are discussions about the children’s theme that some find unpleasant.
At a time when the casino industry is slowly drowning in a growing set of rules, it’s either brave or crazy for
Play ‘n GO to launch a game like this.
Despite all this, it’s hard to deny that Hugo’s adventure looks like fun. Although the art is similar to the other games, there are of course new scenarios to explore here.
In a perfect paradise setting, the symbols on the scrolls include A-10 suits, plus the monkey technician, the eagle pilot and the stewardess Hugolina, which are more rewarding.
Hugo himself is the most profitable, offering 50 times his bet for a combination of five.
There are two features included in Hugo’s Adventure. The first is the Underwater Adventure bonus selection game, which comes into play when two submarines appear on cylinders 2 and 4 simultaneously.
Before the adventure begins, you can run a golden underwater slot machine that can give you up to 3 lives (hearts). You can choose underwater treasures, which can reveal cash prizes or take a life. At the end of the bonus, you will have a spin on the underwater multiplier for every remaining life.
This gives you the opportunity to accumulate a multiplier of up to 20x, which is then applied to the total winnings in the bonus games.
Things heat up when you land 3 aircraft symbols on cylinders 1, 3 and 5, which will give you access to the Air Ace Free Spins feature. Starting with 9 moves and 1 life, watch out for the +1 heart balloon symbols as this will add an extra life to your total.
If, on the other hand, Hugo is hit by an air mine, it will reduce his life by 1. There are also additional races that can be won up to 20 in total.
However, there is more to it than the free spin function. If you’re lucky, you’ll see some savages flying on the reels.
These will fly from right to left, moving one step to the left with each turn until you lose sight of them. In addition, they can land up to 4 x 2 multiplier balloons on each reel to give you a multiplier of up to 16x on a single payline.
If you finish the round with free spins when one or more lives remain, you will automatically have access to the Underwater Adventure feature.
Hugo’s Adventure is the most volatile Hugo game to date and also the best in the series, which is not really a great achievement that we can add.
As is usually the case with these slots, the bonus game is just a filler to spice things up a bit. Actually, it is a free spinning game that is quite fun.
Not only is it surprisingly entertaining, but the potential is also excellent, allowing you to accumulate up to 5000 times your bet.
If you liked Hugo’s other games, you’ll probably like it even more. Even if you are not a fan of the ugly Scandinavian troll, it is definitely worth trying the game, as the potential is good and the features are well thought out. Unless you find the graphics for the cartoons disturbing, of course.
The game format offers 5 reels with 10 paylines. Hugos Adventure features themes such as Adventure, Cartoons, Comics, Computer Games, Fantasy, Hugo, Trolls and more.
